A dose of 4,500cGy should be delivered over twenty-six treatment days using five fractions per week, each fraction consisting of no more than 180cGy. Using this technique no radiation-induced neurological damage has been recorded by the author. During treatment, an individual head mask is used to encompass and immobilise the whole of the patient's head; this improves accuracy and safety (Fig. 3.21).
